Monday Night Linkage

Giving you some links on this Monday night.

We start this update with a blog entry from Neil Best of Newsday. He has some quotes from Joe Buck and Tim McCarver from a Fox conference call and both men discussed the future of Joe Torre.

And thanks to Best who got the link from Awful Announcing, Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star discovered that Colts QB Peyton Manning is not a fan of Tony Kornheiser on Monday Night Football.

Chicago Blackhawks fans can finally rejoice. It appears the team will relax its home blackouts and allow Comcast SportsNet Chicago to air games from the United Center. For years, the late owner Bill Wirtz refused to allow home broadcasts feeling they would hurt attendance. His sons appear to be open to allow home games to be aired in the local market.

From the Sports Media Watch blog, we get the analysis of Sunday night’s ratings that shows MLB got a rare win in a head-to-head battle with the NFL. Before Hazel Mae was brought in from Toronto to replace her, Jayme was on the SportsDesk every morning like clockwork. Here’s hoping we get to see more of Jayme as Kathryn Tappen is hosting the Bruins for NESN this winter.

The Omaha World-Herald reports that FSN will pick up the Nebraska-Kansas Big 12 game on November 3.

From the Centre (PA) Daily Times, we find out that ESPN’s College Gameday will be at Penn State University this Saturday to preview the Ohio State-Penn State game.

The El Paso Times has the story of Time Warner Cable offering to put the NFL Network’s schedule of games on Pay Per View.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your first network series cancellation is … dun… dun… dun… CBS’ Viva Laughlin and in its place will be The Amazing Race 12 premiering November 4. I’m a big fan of TAR and I look forward to its return. Look for my reviews of each leg after they air on this blog.

That’s it for tonight. Back tomorrow.
