U.S. Open Women’s Final Doubles Audience From Last Year

Good news for CBS regarding the U.S. Open Women’s Final. It literally doubled its audience from the year before, going to a 4.2 overnight rating with an 8 share, exactly 100% better than last year’s coverage on late Sunday afternoon for the Men’s Final which was filled with rain delay coverage. Comparing this year’s Women’s Final which took place a day later than its normal Saturday night timeslot, Sunday’s rating is 121% higher than last year which received a 1.9/4 in primetime.

Overall, it’s a pretty decent rating for the U.S. Open which has been plagued by rain in the second week for the last few years. Looking back two years ago when CBS aired a men’s semifinal match in the Sunday 4 p.m. ET window, the network received a 3.2/6 overnight.

Here’s the press release from CBS Sports.
