Now let’s go to the NFL Today’s quotage for Divisional Sunday. Kudos to CBS for being the only network to send out quotage for the entire Divisional Playoff Weekend. They stepped up.
Here’s the CBS press release.
NEWS, NOTES & QUOTES FROM CBS SPORTS’ “THE NFL TODAY” WITH JAMES BROWN, DAN MARINO, SHANNON SHARPE, BILL COWHER AND BOOMER ESIASON FOR AFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS WEEK ON JANUARY 14 & 15
QUICK HITS
(On Tim Tebow)
SHANNON SHARPE: Looking at what he’s done, taking a 1?4 team, getting into the playoffs, winning a playoff game and getting to the divisional round. I think he’s earned the right to go into Training Camp as the incumbent starter. But I do not envy the guy that comes in and has to play competition with Tim Tebow with the feelings the way they have in Denver. The fans love this guy. I don’t know if a guy can come in there and get an honest shake at beating him out for the starting job.DETROIT LIONS NDAMUKONG SUH VISITED SET OF “THE NFL TODAY”
BILL COWHER: You know, Ndamukong, Coach Schwartz has done a great job of changing the culture and mentality up there. But for you personally, a lot of the things that happened this year, I always said perception is reality. Does it bother you in your style of play that you may be perceived as a dirty player? Is it going to change the way you play the game in the future.
SUH: I think the biggest thing is we need to make sure that we stay physical. That’s why I pattern my game after; being physical. Being a guy that’s always attacking fierce and getting after the ball. It’s always whistle to whistle and making sure it stays there. And coach Schwartz is a guy that emphasized not being that the Detroit Lions we’re just laying down and making sure we continue to have that fight. We got over that last year. Now it became our culture and just winning and continuing in that going forward.(On.Thanksgiving Day game against Green Bay)
JAMES BROWN: I understand the mindset that a defensive player has to have. But that which is indelibly ensconced in many people’s minds is what took place on Thanksgiving Day when you stomped on the Green Bay Packer player, and gave, what in many people’s minds was not a sincere explanation after the game. You talked with him. What did you say? Let America know how you feel now.
SUH: I had a great conversation with Dietrich-Smith. He’s a great guy. I got to go against him the last game of the regular-season. Had a chat with him. He’s a great guy. I obviously made a mistake. I definitely, without a doubt, understand that, and I’m held to a high standard. And I love being held to a high standard. I’m a man that I believe I can continue to uphold that high standard. At the same time, I want that because I want to be an example for young kids and I want to continue to drive and be an example to be able to be followed after. And everybody makes mistakes. Just continue to learn from them and grow.
“INSIDE THE GAME” WITH CHARLEY CASSERLY
(On Ray Rice’s contract status)
CASSERLY: The Ravens told me it’s a number one priority to get him re-signed for next year. I think his agent is going to ask for a big contract, north of $10 million. If they don’t get a deal done by the start of free agency, they will franchise him at $7.7 million.Click to view: http://bit.ly/xDYAvh
