NEWS, NOTES & QUOTES FROM CBS SPORTS’ “THE NFL TODAY” WITH JAMES BROWN, DAN MARINO, SHANNON SHARPE, BILL COWHER AND BOOMER ESIASON FOR WEEK 12 ON NOVEMBER 25
ON POSSIBLE FINE AND SUSPENSION OF NDAMUKONG SUH REGARDING PLAY ON MATT SCHAUB ON THANKSGIVING DAY
JASON LA CANFORA: This official review will begin in the League office on Monday. But there are people within the League office that have already looked at this repeatedly. They don’t think it looks normal to them. They think that looks like an illegal play. If that is the consensus, then the conversation begins to add a suspension. That’s been the track record for Suh. The real question may not be is he going to be suspended or not, but for how long?

REACTION TO SUH
(On whether Ndamukong Suh should be suspended for Thanksgiving Day)
SHANNON SHARPE: I will go to my grave believing this guy did this intentional. Because you can see the extra extension that he gave. Now if he had just rolled over and let the motion take him and the side or back of his foot accidentally kicked the guy in the groin, no problem with it. But his history, I cannot give him the benefit of the doubt.BILL COWHER: I know you guys are all offensive players. The one thing I like about this guy, as a defensive player, he plays with a chip. And in my opinion, I know he has to clean it up. He’s constantly trying to say just get off me. He wants to get back to the next play. I know he’s got to clean it up…I would fine him, but I would not suspend him.

(On NFL possibly changing replay rule for postseason after Houston-Detroit Thanksgiving Day game)
LA CANFORA: As we reported on the postgame show Thursday, there was already talk within the competition committee that we need to get this right for 2013. But since then I’ve learned there has been internal communication that maybe we can address this sooner, there is a league meeting coming up December 12 in Dallas. At that point they could recommend to owners, let’s nip this in the bud and change that part of the rule. If they did that, they wouldn’t change the rule for the regular season, because there would be a competitive imbalance there. It’s already affected games. It could come into play for the playoffs and moving forward.Click to view report: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/video/nfl-on-cbs/__oUIST3gMg4
(On New York Jets turmoil and attractiveness of GM and head coaching jobs)
LA CANFORA: I’ve talked to some execs that have studied that situation and they said, frankly, it could be something of a tough sell. As Coach Cowher pointed out, there has been a lack of discipline there. Talk to players that have been in that lockerroom in recent years, and they say the coaching staff is not willing or able to drop the hammer when they have to. And there is also a sense of entitlement in that locker room because there are so many bloated contracts handed out with huge guaranteed money that keep guys on that roster.Click to view: http://www.cbssports.com/video/player/nfl-on-cbs/PSMjhOqhgdt0

(On possibility of these being final days for Andy Reid in Philadelphia)
BOOMER ESIASON: Sorry to say, yes. I think all good things must come to an end. He’s been a great coach there. He’s been a great winner there as a head coach. But things get tired. When things get tired, change is needed. I certainly think it’s coming there in Philadelphia.THE NFL TODAY TALKS DEFENSE WITH DENVER BRONCOS
