You’ve probably never heard of Tom Martinez. But without him, Tom Brady might not have three Super Bowl rings and be a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player. Martinez has been Brady’s personal passing coach and mentor since he first met a 12-year-old, Brady, 20 years ago. Six months ago their relationship changed forever when Martinez was given just days to live. Brady has been with his coach and friend throughout his battle to survive. Coach Martinez still continues to mentor his most-celebrated student even as his own health deteriorates. Martinez now finds himself fighting a new battle as he needs a kidney transplant to save his life. Deb Gelman is the producer.

QUICK HITS

(On Detroit’s Ndamukong Suh)
SHANNON SHARPE:
Instead of us talking about what a great turn-around season of the Detroit Lions, a great young team this is, we’re constantly answering questions, Is this a dirty team? Ndamukong Suh, you answered this for us today. Yes you are…To do what he did, to be that selfish and take himself out of the ballgame…, he’s a dirty player. He has anger management problems that he needs to get addressed. Commissioner Goodell will take care of this next week when he sits him down for a minimum of two ballgames.

BILL COWHER: It’s unfortunate because he does have some issues. It was a very selfish act. At a time when you talk about Detroit, their next game is at New Orleans. Even if it is only one game, they cannot afford to lose many more games down the road, particularly in the upcoming weeks at New Orleans, Minnesota at home – a very selfish act and certainly he’s going to get suspended.

(On whether Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is capable of taking his team to Super Bowl)
BILL COWHER:
Yes, this quarterback, I love the way his mindset is. He can lead them to a Super Bowl.

(On whether Matt Moore is Miami’s quarterback of the future)
DAN MARINO:
He is one of the reasons why they have won three in a row, but the Dolphins have to draft a young quarterback that they can build around for the future. Matt Moore has been playing great, but he is a transition for the Miami Dolphins’ upcoming years. The Dolphins have to find a way, find a franchise quarterback for this team to continue to be successful in the long run.

And that will do it for the quotage.
