When CBS signed its landmark 15 year deal with the Southeastern Conference, it was wondered why the network committed to such a long time. Now, we see that the ratings are making that deal viable. CBS Sports’ national coverage of the SEC ON CBS for the 2010 season is the highest-rated regular season college football package on any network for the second consecutive season averaging a national household rating/share of 4.2/10.The SEC ON CBS season average of a 4.2/10 topped ABC’s season average of 3.5/7 for college football for the second time since 1990.CBS Sports’ coverage of the SEC ON CBS was highlighted by the highest-rated college football games of the season, *No. 2-ranked Auburn beating *No. 11-ranked Alabama, which earned a national household rating/share of 7.3/17, (11/26/10) and six of the top 10 highest-rated games.
