College Football is winding, but it means that College Basketball is starting to get into high gear. With the interconference matchups taking precedence this month, it means you’ll get some power games like the one CBS is airing Saturday between traditional college basketball powerhouses North Carolina and Kentucky.
Jim Nantz and Clark Kellogg will be on the call from Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. The game starts at noon Eastern time. It will lead into the SEC Football Championship taking place in Atlanta later in the day.

CBS Sports’ 31st consecutive season of college basketball tips off with a national broadcast on Saturday, Dec. 3 (12:00 NOON, ET) with *No. 1-ranked Kentucky taking on No. 5-ranked North Carolina.
CBS Sports’ lead broadcast team of Jim Nantz and Clark Kellogg call the action live from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. Bob Dekas, the Network’s coordinating producer of college basketball, produces, and Chris Svendsen directs.
This season CBS Sports will broadcast 42 men’s contests, two women’s games and five conference championships (plus the Big Ten semi-finals), featuring teams from top conferences including the Big Ten, Big East, Atlantic Coast, SEC, Pac-12, Big 12 and Atlantic 10.

Rebounding will be the key. Rebounding has been an area of weakness for North Carolina in a couple of its games. Kentucky is not a physically imposing team. They are extremely talented and long, but not physically strong. North Carolina suffers from a little bit of that as well. Their big guys are not imposing, physical players. The key to this game is who can handle and control the paint, especially on the backboards.(ON THE BIG TEN)
Ohio State has a good distance between them and the rest of the league, but they’ll encounter some headwinds throughout the course of the conference season. You always have to consider Wisconsin. Bo Ryan is one of the very best in the business and always has good players who do an excellent job of playing the way he wants them to play. Michigan will continue to get better under John Beilein. They have some nice pieces, and present a style that’s challenging. And as long as Robbie Hummel stays healthy, Purdue will be in the hunt.(ON THE BIG EAST)
Keep an eye on Marquette with Jae Crowder, Darius Johnson-Odom and Vander Blue. Marquette is a team that could emerge and surprise some folks based on expectations.(TEAMS TO WATCH)
You have a number of traditionally powerful teams that are at the top of the rankings. Connecticut, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio State, Duke and Florida will be legitimate Top 10-caliber teams all-year long. And then you have some really quality non-power conference teams including Saint Louis, Xavier and Gonzaga, UNLV, San Diego State and Creighton that will be exciting to watch throughout the season and quality tournament teams when we get to March.
