CBS is feeling good over the ratings and viewership for the early 1 p.m. ET slot on Sunday which was occupied by the San Diego Chargers at the Cincinnati Bengals. Overall, CBS saw a very strong 18.9 rating and a 36 share. That’s up 4% from last year’s Indianapolis at Baltimore game which also aired on CBS.
Viewership was an astounding 30.9 million viewers which is also up 4% from last year’s early AFC Wild Card Sunday game.
Locally, Cincinnati averaged a 42.9/65 which topped the nation among local markets for the game. It also drew the biggest audience of the NFL season for WKRC-TV.
In San Diego which experienced a 72 degree day and a game airing at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, the market saw a season high 38.8. That’s impressive.

The Chargers-Bengals AFC Wild Card Playoff game scored an average fast-national household rating/share of 18.9/36, up 4% from last year’s 18.1/36, which is the highest-rated early Sunday AFC Wild Card game in 19 years (22.0/48; New England-Cleveland; 1/1/95; 12:30-3:37 PM, ET).
The average viewership and rating/share for the Chargers-Bengals game peaked with 36.2 million viewers and a 21.6/39 (3:30-4:00 PM, ET), respectively.
