Monday Update

Some more stuff for you today.

Larry Stewart of the LA Times has a review of NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Open.

Phil Mushnick compares Bob Costas and Chris Berman, both of whom were at the Open and you can see where this is going.

This could be a developing story, especially if the NFL TV partners decide to band together. Mediaweek reports that CBS, Fox and NBC are not happy that the NFL is not allowing its official sponsors to advertise in the Super Bowl. That would raise a lot of revenue for the three networks.

In addition, Mediaweek says Fox has sold out its inventory for this year’s MLB All Star Game, the quickest it’s done so in the history of the network.

Michael Wilbon in the Washington Post says the NBA would help its ratings and its TV partners by reseeding the playoffs.

The Sports Media Watch Blog picks up an interview with NBA Commish David Stern from Sports Business Journal. Stern again spins the bad NBA TV ratings to blowouts. Whatever you say, David.

In Winnipeg Free Press (Canada), Tim Campbell says NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Open, carried by TSN in Canada, openly rooted for Americans. I think the guy is reaching. Chris Zelkovich in the Toronto Star writes that NBC is in love with Tiger Woods.

The Mountain West Conference is looking to break its 10 year contract with CSTV and the mtn. channel.

And if there was any doubt, last week’s “explosion” on WWE’s Monday Night Raw on USA Network was fake.
