Once again, the late Sunday afternoon timeslot paid dividends for the NFL. With CBS airing the San Diego Chargers-Denver Broncos game in the 4:40 p.m. ET window, the Tiffany Network drew the highest overnight ratings of the Divisional Playoff Weekend.
CBS garnered a 25.1 overnight number along with a 42 share. That’s up 5% from last year’s 23.8/39 for Houston at New England which was also in the late Sunday afternoon window.
CBS also points out that Sunday’s ratings were the highest AFC Divisional Playoff game played on that day since the Indianapolis-Kansas City game on NBC played in 1996.
