Inside The NFL Returns To Showtime

CBS Sports, Showtime, NFL Films and NFL Media have jointly announced the renewal of Inside The NFL for a fourth season on Showtime. Ever since HBO canceled the show, Showtime stepped up and brought it back. And the cast of James Brown, Cris Collinsworth, Phil Simms, Warren Sapp and Michael Lombardi all return for the new season which premieres on Wednesday, September 7 at 9 p.m. with a season preview. In addition, a total of 23 episodes will air throughout the season.

The show has been on the air since 1977 and has used NFL Films footage highlighting every game played the previous week. We have the announcement from CBS Sports/Showtime/NFL Films.

Season Four on SHOWTIME® Premieres Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 9 p.m. ET/PT

NEW YORK (Aug. 23, 2011) – INSIDE THE NFL, the Emmy Award-winning NFL studio show, returns to SHOWTIME for a fourth consecutive season on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 9 p.m. ET/PT to kick off a multi-year extension announced today. The announcement was made jointly by Ken Hershman, Executive Vice President, General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports®, Sean McManus, Chairman, CBS Sports and Executive Producer, THE NFL ON CBS and INSIDE THE NFL, and Steve Bornstein, Executive Vice President of NFL Media.

“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the NFL and NFL Films,” said Hershman. “INSIDE THE NFL is the crown jewel of SHOWTIME Sports. From the breathtaking highlights and compelling features to heated debate on the most provocative issues in football, INSIDE THE NFL stands alone as the best sports highlights and analysis program on television.”

INSIDE THE NFL, now entering its 33rd season, will air every Wednesday night through the NFL season on SHOWTIME for a total of 23 episodes, with multiple replays each week on SHOWTIME and SHOWTIME EXTREME® and availability on SHOWTIME On Demand.

Host James Brown anchors INSIDE THE NFL with All-Pro NFL greats Cris Collinsworth, Phil Simms and Warren Sapp serving as expert analysts, and Michael Lombardi returning as the show’s insider.

INSIDE THE NFL is produced by CBS Sports and NFL Films. In 2008, INSIDE THE NFL was reborn on SHOWTIME, earning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Studio Show, Weekly, its ninth overall Emmy and the first for SHOWTIME Sports®. After its second season on the network INSIDE THE NFL received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Feature and for Outstanding Post Produced Audio/Sound.

Since its premiere in 1977, the heart of the one-hour show has been its exclusive and award-winning game highlights from NFL Films, as well as its storied roster of talent recapping the weekend’s games and previewing the match-ups for the week ahead.
