CBS Sports’ Tribute to Frank Chirkinian

This aired during halftime on Saturday’s Kansas-Missouri game on CBS. Jim Nantz voiced this tribute to legendary golf producer Frank Chirkinian who died Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer. I’ll give you the entire video below Jim’s introduction with is transcribed below.

CBS SPORTS PAYS TRIBUTE TO LEGENDARY PRODUCER/DIRECTOR FRANK CHIRKINIAN, “FATHER OF TELEVISED GOLF”

CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz commented today on the passing of legendary CBS Sports producer/director Frank Chirkinian, often called the “Father of Televised golf.”

NANTZ: It’s a tough day for many of us at CBS Sports.  It’s very difficult to frame his full breadth of work, or even the man himself in just a couple of minutes.  He won the Lifetime Emmy.  He was in the first [class] in the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.  And just recently, was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Frank Chirkinian, a leader, a man, a career unlike any other.

Truly a heartfelt tribute from Jim. Just in case you didn’t get to see that Saturday.
