CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS PGA TOUR’S FINAL REGULAR-SEASON EVENT AT WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP ON AUGUST 20-21

The final run to the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup is this weekend at the WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP, the last event of the PGA TOUR’s regular-season, as CBS Sports broadcasts third- and final-round coverage of the Wyndham Championship from historic Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET, both days), live on the CBS Television Network.

Bill Macatee and Ian Baker-Finch provide commentary from the 18th tower.  Gary McCord calls the play from the 17th tower.  Peter Kostis calls the action at the 16th hole and David Feherty serves as on-course reporter.

As the final event in the PGA TOUR season, the Wyndham Championship offers the last opportunity for players to boost their FedEx positions heading into the Playoffs and to earn a spot in the first Playoff event, The Barclays.

Last year Arjun Atwal shot a final round 67 to finish -20 under par for his first PGA Tour victory edging out David Toms, who finished in second at -19.  But this week’s 72nd playing of the Wyndham Championship has essentially become a playoff event for Ernie Els (126th), Padraig Harrington (130th) and Angel Cabrera (150th), who are not in the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings.  Also needing strong finishes this week to keep their playoff hopes alive are Camilo Villegas (125th), Justin Leonard (142nd) and Paul Casey (147th).  Among other golfers scheduled to tee off in this very strong field include Jim Furyk, Ian Poulter, Davis Love III, Vijay Singh, John Daly, Retief Goosen, David Duval, Trevor Immelman, Lucas Glover, Lee Janzen, Rocco Mediate, Brandt Snedeker, as well as young guns Anthony Kim, Bill Haas, Webb Simpson and Chez Reavie.

After the Wyndham Championship, the top 125 point earners will make the field at THE BARCLAYS, the first of the four PGA TOUR FedExCup Playoff tournamentsCBS Sports will broadcast the third and final rounds of The Barclays on Saturday, Aug. 27 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET) and Sunday, Aug. 28 (2:00-6:00 PM, ET), live from Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J.

Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports’ golf coverage. Harold Bryant is Executive Producer & Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.

That’s it.
