BREAKING: CBS/Turner Analyst Greg Anthony Arrested in Prostitution Sting

Here’s something that broke late Friday night. Reported by WJLA in Washington, D.C., CBS/Turner Sports basketball analyst Greg Anthony was arrested on prostitution charges as part of a police sting.

Anthony was scheduled to broadcast the Michigan State at Maryland game Saturday at nearby College Park, MD with Ian Eagle for CBS. There’s no word if Anthony will be released in time to work the game or if CBS will replace him.

An e-mail to CBS requesting a statement and to inquire about the network’s plans for the game has gone unanswered at this time.

Anthony was named as the top college basketball analyst for CBS/Turner after the 2012-13 season and called his first Final Four last year.

With the incident, it leaves CBS with a major decision as to whether suspend or even relieve Anthony of his duties. He replaced Clark Kellogg as the main analyst for college basketball and has also been working with Turner on NBA TV.

UPDATE, 11:18 a.m. 01/17/2015: The Associated Press reported that Anthony was released Friday evening after being held.

A CBS Spokesperson issued the following statement:

“Greg Anthony will not be working again for CBS this season. He has been suspended indefinitely.”

Jim Spanarkel will work today’s Michigan State-Maryland game in Anthony’s place.
