The Rest of the Megalinks

I’m back from the jobsite and time to give you the rest of the megalinks for today. I left off in the Midwest and now time for the West Coast.

West

John Maffei of the North County Times writes about the new coordinating producer of MLB on ESPN who’s leaving his job as producer of San Diego Padres games.

The Ventura County Star’s Jim Carlisle is not a fan of tape delayed Lakers games on KCAL-TV.

Christine Daniels of the Los Angeles Times reports on a rare weekend when all of the area’s professional and college teams are on the road this weekend.

Tom Hoffarth of the Los Angeles Daily News starts a four part series on the Best and Worst of LA Sports Media. And he begins with a profile of ESPN Radio’s Jason Smith who does his national overnight show from LA. In his blog, Hoffarth talks with Sporting News Radio’s Dave Smith who also worked the overnight shift. And we get Hoffarth’s extensive media news and notes in his Farther Off the Wall blog.

Canada

Chris Zelkovich of the Toronto Star writes that Canadian tennis fans can catch the Davis Cup match between Canada and Mexico online.

William Houston of the Toronto Globe and Mail wonders if CBC’s Don Cherry will be hostile towards Hockey Day in Canada host Whistler, Manitoba for its Russian history.

Saturday is CBC’s annual Hockey Day in Canada, an all day broadcast celebrating hockey and an opportunity for the network to show all six Canadian teams in action. Here’s the network’s website which includes the schedule of events.

That will do it for now. I’ll be back later with more.

About Ken Fang

Ken has been covering the sports media in earnest at his own site, Fang's Bites since May 2007 and at Awful Announcing since March 2013. He provides a unique perspective having been an award-winning radio news reporter in Providence and having worked in local television. Fang celebrates the three Boston Red Sox World Championships in the 21st Century, but continues to be a long-suffering Cleveland Browns fan.
