PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA INTERVIEWED BY MLB NETWORK’S BOB COSTAS AT MLB ALL-STAR GAME

Interview to Air Tonight on MLB Network During Post- All-Star Game Edition of MLB Tonight

Secaucus, N.J., July 14, 2009 – MLB Network’s Bob Costas interviewed U.S. President Barack Obama before the 80th Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 14 at St. Louis’ Busch Stadium. The interview will air on MLB Network during MLB Tonight immediately following the All-Star Game and re-air within MLB Tonight from 12:00am ET until 12:00pm ET on Wednesday, July 15. President Obama is the second U.S. president to be interviewed by MLB Network, as analyst Harold Reynolds interviewed President Bill Clinton at the 2009 Civil Rights Game on June 20, 2009.

Highlights from the interview include President Obama talking about growing up watching Minor League Baseball in Hawaii, his favorite players as a child, his optimism for the Chicago White Sox in the second half of the regular season, and how he flew in to St. Louis for the All-Star Game on Air Force One with Hall of Famer Willie Mays.

I had a nice snarky comment about Fox not showing the proper angle for the first pitch, but I lost it. Anyway, watch the interview.

Update, 10:35 a.m.: Nice of the White House to get footage of the interview and put it up on YouTube. Here is that interview.

It was a fun interview to watch.
