MLB Network Mines Two Sports Emmys

Lastly from the Sports Emmy Awards press releases, MLB Network proudly took home two awards. One was for Bob Costas, sharing that with NBC for Outstanding Studio Host. But the other was an upset over some very good competition. MLB Network won the Outstanding Daily Studio Show for MLB Tonight. Here’s the press release.

MLB Tonight Honored as Outstanding Studio Show – Daily
MLB Network’s Bob Costas wins 22nd Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Personality – Studio Host

Secaucus, NJ, May 3, 2011 – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences last night awarded MLB Network two Sports Emmy Awards. MLB Tonight, MLB Network’s signature nightly studio show, was honored in an extremely competitive category as Outstanding Studio Show – Daily. Bob Costas, host of MLB Network’s Studio 42 with Bob Costas and play-by-play voice for Thursday Night Baseball, received his 22nd Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Personality- Studio Host for his work with both MLB Network and NBC Sports.

MLB Tonight has been the core of MLB Network since we came on the air in January 2009. It represents our goal to bring fans the most comprehensive baseball coverage every day, and we are honored to be recognized by our peers in the industry with this award,” Tony Petitti, MLB Network President and CEO. “I’d like to congratulate our colleague Bob Costas, who we are proud to have part of MLB Network, on his recognition for his work as studio host, which has set the standard in the sports TV industry.”

The 32nd Annual Sports Emmy Awards, held on Monday at the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City, recognize outstanding achievement by individuals and programs broadcast throughout the 2010 calendar year. A complete list of winners will be made available at www.emmyonline.org.
