Fox Sports Scores with Big Ten Championship

On Saturday, a close Big Ten Championship between the Michigan State Spartans and the Ohio State Buckeyes which saw Sparty spoiling the Buckeyes chances at the BCS Championship Game gave Fox a primetime win on Saturday. The network received a very good 7.9 rating with a 14 share. Viewership averaged a very good 13.9 million viewers.

It’s the highest rating and viewership for the event since it began in 2011. And it’s Fox’s highest-rated college football game dating back to the 2010 Fiesta Bowl which received an 8.2/13 and 13.8 million viewers.

Locally, Columbus, Ohio was the highest-rated market across the country with a 48.3/72. Dayton and Cleveland were next with 37.7/55 and 28.5/48, respectively. Detroit and Birmingham rounded out the top five.

While Fox did well with the Big Ten Championship, CBS is expected to do better with the SEC Championship. We’ll provide those numbers when they become available.

Here’s the Fox press release.
