Tuesday Night Stuffage

Thanks to the incompetence of Broadview Networks, I’m still without internet access at work. Not only did they screw up my phone lines, they also rewired the lines so it knocked out my DSL lines. This is all fucked up. If you have Broadview, cancel them and switch to another company. And if you’re considering them, don’t and go to another choice. Awful company and bad customer service. Do yourselves a favor and avoid the company at all costs.

Let’s do your links.

From the Boston Globe’s Extra Bases blog and courtesy of the Boston Sports Media Watch, Nick Cafardo breaks news that NESN has signed Red Sox TV voice Don Orsillo to a new contract. No official press release on NESN on Orsillo, but since the Globe and NESN are linked, one can assume this to be true.

Newsday’s Neil Best writes that Giants radio analyst Dave Jennings is trying to figure out what to do next as he struggles with Parkinson’s Disease. Also in his column, Neil talked with ESPN NFL analyst Cris Carter and expounds on the interview in his blog. Neil was surprised to hear Michael Kay actually criticize the Yankees on YES last night.

The New York Daily News’ Bob Raissman says CBS’ Phil Simms did not complete his analysis during Sunday’s Jets-Dolphins game.

Keith Groller of the Allentown Morning Call says Jets fans will not be served in Eastern PA as the lone CBS affiliate will carry Steelers games.

George M. Thomas of the Akron Beacon Journal says one lone sports radio voice is trying to talk Browns fans off the ledge after our team’s horrible performance against the Cowboys.

Bob Wolfley of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes that the new Inside the NFL on Showtime will look at Aaron Rodgers’ debut for Green Bay.

Multichannel News says Inside the NFL will have three guests this week.

Tom Hoffarth of the Los Angeles Daily News talked with ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit about this Saturday’s Ohio State-USC game which he and Brent Musberger will call on ABC. Tom goes over the college games that will be available in SoCal this weekend. Tom now reviews the NFL games available in the LA market for Week 2.

Over to Pete Dougherty of the Albany Times Union who says all of New York State’s regional teams will be seen in the Capital Region in Week 2.

The Sports Media Watch says the ratings for the men’s final of the US Open fell as it was played on Monday. SMW has some ratings news and notes. The blog has the final weekend ratings and note that the first eight spots are filled by NFL-related programming.

ESPN says Monday Night Football killed in the ratings.

Christopher Byrne of the Eye on Sports Media blog says CBSSports.com will stream CBS’ SEC games live.

The Big Ten Network announces it will air a special “Big Ten Tonight” halftime show during the Ohio State-USC game on Saturday.

CNBC’s Darren Rovell says Michael Phelps is now the most coveted celebrity endorser.

Michael Phelps’ appearance on the Jay Leno show led to its highest ratings since mid-June.

That will do it for now. I hope I have internet access tomorrow. If I don’t, I’ll continue to trash Broadview Networks.
