Some Late Wednesday Afternoon Links

I’ve checked around and we have enough links for an update.

From the TV Predictions website, we find that DirecTV has added 23 HD channels including several Regional Sports Networks.

Tim Lemke of the Washington Times reports in his Sports Business blog about ESPN hiring two newspaper reporters who will join its investigative unit. Ben Grossman of Broadcasting & Cable also writes about the new hires. And here’s the official announcement from ESPN.

Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News who yesterday criticized ESPN’s Ron Jaworski, has an update which includes some of Jaws’ responses.

Bob Wolfley in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel recaps Packers coach Mike McCarthy’s weekly appearance on Fox Sports Radio.

Multichannel News reports on the latest on the dispute between the Big Ten Network and Time Warner Cable. Jeff Budlong of the Albert Lea (MN) Tribune has some harsh words for the BCS and the Big Ten Network.

Kent Gibbons of Multichannel News has a story on the SPEED Channel ordering episodes of a new game show. And Chris Pursell of TV Week says NASCAR is preparing a cooking reality show for the fall.

CNBC’s Darren Rovell has received an outpouring of support from fans of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Yesterday, Darren wondered if Earnhardt would continue to gain sponsors and fans if he didn’t start winning. And in his latest entry, Rovell says New York Knick Stephon Marbury could become an issue for retailer Steve & Barry’s which carries his line of shoes.

I’ll end it here. I may have an update later tonight.
