Saturday Linkage

Ok, let’s give you the Saturday links as the Colorado-Arizona game goes to extra innings. Late night for the Hot Corner crews in both New York and Atlanta. And I’m up giving you links. This is called dedication, my friends. LOL.

Starting with the San Antonio Express-News, Jerry Garcia writes that the Patriots-Cowboys will be the main focus for the NFL this weekend.

The Dallas Morning News’ Barry Horn talks with CBS NFL analyst Phil Simms who will call the Patriots-Cowboys game with Jim Nantz.

Dan Caesar of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes about Joe Buck’s possible venture into late night. And Caesar writes about Missouri getting some publicity thanks to ESPN’s College Gameday being on site at the Mizzou-Oklahoma game today.

John Dempsey of Variety has a story on the Big Ten Network and Comcast continuing to wage their war of words.

The Sports Media Watch has a look at the ratings from Thursday for Game 1 of the NLCS. They were low compared to past NLCS games, but for TBS, they were high. What do you think the know-nothing media writers will harp on when they get this news? That’s right, the low ratings because many media critics don’t understand the difference between over the air and cable TV ratings.

Peter Grant writes a remembrance of the late Cox Communications CEO James Robbins who fought against ESPN’s rise in programming fees.

Chris Casacchia of the Business Journal of Phoenix writes that Northern Arizona University has signed a contract to show its sports over the next five months on FSN Arizona.

Darren Meritz of the El Paso Times writes that city leaders are asking the State of Texas to get involved to bring the NFL Network to more fans.

Tracy Myers of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram writes that it’s hoped the NHL Network will help to fill in the gaps for hockey fans who can’t get Versus or the Center Ice PPV package.

ESPN gives us its plans for Sunday NFL Countdown (including … wait for it…. a special appearance by Bill Parcells previewing the Pats-Cowboys! Ooooooh!!!!) and Monday Night Countdown.

I guess that’s it for now. If I find more links, I’ll put them in the Sunday edition. NFL Picks will be made later today.
