Big Ten Network’s 2010-11 Men’s Basketball Schedule

Before a single point has been scored in the college football season, we have been receiving press releases galore on college basketball. I have two more to post. Here’s one from the Big Ten Network on its schedule for the upcoming season.

Big Ten Network to Televise 61 Intra-Conference Men’s Basketball Games in 2010-11
Nearly two-thirds of Big Ten Conference match-ups to air on network
CHICAGO – The Big Ten Network will once again televise the bulk of the 2010-11 Big Ten Conference men’s basketball schedule, with 61 intra-conference game telecasts this season. Overall, the network will televise 108 men’s basketball games, all in high definition, including three contests at the 2011 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament in Indianapolis.
“With such an extensive schedule of games, our in-depth studio coverage and original programming, the Big Ten Network is the ultimate viewing destination for Big Ten basketball fans,” Big Ten Network President Mark Silverman said.
Since the network’s launch, every home Big Ten men’s basketball game has been produced for television or the internet, giving the Big Ten Conference the widest exposure of any conference in the nation.
The conference slate begins at 6:30 PM ET on Monday, Dec. 27, as Indiana hosts Penn State. The next day, Final Four contender Purdue travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., to face the Wolverines at 2 PM ET.
The centerpiece of the Big Ten Network’s weekly men’s basketball schedule will be Super Wednesday doubleheaders at 6:30 PM ET and 8:30 PM ET, beginning Jan. 5. Each Super Wednesday doubleheader will be preceded by a 30-minute Big Ten Tip-Off Show and followed by a post-game show.
During the conference season, the network will also televise games on most Tuesday nights, selected Thursdays and up to five games each weekend.
Once again, the Big Ten Network will televise three Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament games. The schedule includes the third game of the tournament at 7:30 PM ET on Thursday, March 10, involving the No. 6 and No. 11 seeds from Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The network will also carry the quarterfinal match-ups involving the tournament’s No. 2 and No. 3 seeds on Friday night, March 12.
The Big Ten Network will tip-off the season with 44 games in 42 nights beginning Nov. 12. The network will televise the home openers for Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State and Purdue. Every Big Ten men’s basketball team will make at least 10 appearances on the linear network this season.
The network will stream all exhibition games and a limited number of non-conferences games on www.bigtennetwork.com. Many of those games will also air on a delayed basis through the network’s Student U initiative, giving Big Ten students real world television production experience. The dates, times and television arrangements for some of those games are pending, and will be posted on www.bigtennetwork.com once the schedule is finalized.

The entire schedule comes after the break.
