SEC Football TV Schdule For October 2

For the first Saturday in October, CBS has an day-night doubleheader with Florida at Alabama being the nightcap in primetime. The only game that probably won’t be seen in the SEC footprint is Vanderbilt at UConn which is a Big East Network game, but I’m sure it will be seen in Vandy’s home area. Let’s look at the games for October 2.

SEC Releases Game Times For October 2nd

Birmingham, Ala.  – The Southeastern Conference has released game times for all of its football games on Oct. 2.

CBS Sports will televise a doubleheader of SEC football, which features the last four SEC and BCS national champions.

The CBS slate includes a primetime tilt between #1-ranked (both polls) Alabama and #8/9-ranked Florida (USA/AP) at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET).  The game is a rematch of the last two SEC Football Championship Games and the last two SEC and BCS national champions.

In 2008, Florida defeated Alabama, 31-20, in the SEC title tilt at the Georgia Dome before defeating Oklahoma, 24-14, in the BCS National Championship Game in Miami, Fla.

Last season, Alabama defeated Florida, 32-13, in the SEC title game before defeating Texas, 37-21, in the BCS title game in Pasadena, Calif.

Florida claimed the 2006 SEC and BCS National Championship with a 41-14 win over Ohio State in Glendale, Ariz.  after defeating Arkansas in the SEC Championship Game.

The CBS doubleheader kicks off at 2:30 p.m. CT (3:30 p.m. ET) with Tennessee visiting LSU.  Those same two programs played in the 2001 and 2007 SEC Championship Games, with LSU claiming both wins, 31-20, in 2001 and 21-14, in 2007.  The 2007 win catapulted the Tigers to the BCS national title, defeating Ohio State, 38-24.

The only other SEC intra-conference game scheduled for Oct. 2 will be on the SEC Network at 11:21 a.m. CT (12:21 p.m. ET) as Ole Miss hosts Kentucky.  The Rebels will be looking for their first conference win of the season while the Wildcats will be coming off of its first conference game of the year at Florida.

ESPNU will televise the Louisiana-Monroe at Auburn game starting at 11 a.m. CT (noon ET) and FSN will televise the Alcorn State at Mississippi State game starting at 11 a.m. CT (noon ET).

Two SEC teams are playing road non-conference games on Oct. 2 and those games will televised on other conferences’ television packages.

Vanderbilt visits Connecticut in an 11 a.m. CT (noon ET) tilt on the Big East Network while Colorado hosts Georgia at 7 p.m. ET on FSN.  Check local listings in your area for availability of each game.

The entire Oct. 2 SEC football television slate is as follows:
