BBC Ski Analyst Goes Down Olympic Men’s Downhill Course with a Handheld Camera

I love this video so much that I’ve already posted it at Awful Announcing. I happened to see this while watching BBC’s Olympic coverage on Sunday. While getting ready for the men’s downhill, BBC aired footage of analyst Graham Bell skiing down the Rosa Khutor course with just a handheld camera. As you will see, Bell holds the camera and skis without poles! This is astonishing!!!

What you get is pretty amazing footage.

Apparently Bell does this regularly for BBC, skiing down various FIS Alpine World Cup courses, providing his perspective while making his runs.

I know that the BBC has been undergoing some mandated budget cuts in the UK, but you would think that it could spend a little money on a GoPro camera that it could place on Bell’s helmet.

I doubt that NBC would allow its analysts Todd Brooker or Christin Cooper to do this especially without poles.
