Did you know tennis’ first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open gets underway on Sunday? Well, Monday if you’re in the Australasia region, but Sunday here in the States. Bob Larson’s Tennis News says Martina Navratilova will do color analysis for the Tennis Channel for not only the Australian Open, but the French and Wimbledon as well. Main U.S. rights holder ESPN, will offer live coverage of the event not only on ESPN2, but online as well.

Michael Klein of the Philadelphia Inquirer has a quick blurb on a story I linked to earlier today, that ESPN has pulled its radio programming from a local station.

Eleftaria Parpis from AdWeek says the latest “This is SportsCenter” ad featuring Richard Simmons is a hit.

Chip Brown of the Dallas Morning News says the Texas-Texas A&M game is close to being moved to Thanksgiving Night for ESPN.

Hot chick and Olympic Gold Medal Swimmer Amanda Beard will have her own segment on the Best Damn Sports Show… Period on FSN starting on Wednesday.

Steve Schrader of the Detroit Free Press says CBC and FSN Detroit will show former Red Wings Steve Yzerman dropping the ceremonial first puck before the Senators-Red Wings game this Saturday.
