Australian Open Final airing in the early morning hours of Super Bowl Sunday

The Australian Open is beginning to wrap up with both the men’s and women’s sides of the bracket (as well as the doubles tournaments) coming to a conclusion at the end of this week. All the coverage has been on ESPN, ESPN2, and the Tennis Channel and that will not change as we get closer to the Finals.

The women’s final will be airing on ESPN2 Saturday, January 31st beginning at 3am EST. According to Queen of Tickets, the cheapest Australian Open women’s finals tickets start at $325 a rate that is currently more expensive than any of the remaining sessions, including the Men’s Semifinals.

However, the most in-demand session remaining is the Australian Open final with the lowest priced tickets beginning at $525. While all the hype and media hoopla surrounding sports this weekend will be thrown in the direction of the Super Bowl, the Men’s Final for the Australian Open will be taking place in the early morning hours on Sunday February 1st, televised at 3am EST on ESPN2. The mixed doubles final will be taking place immediately beforehand.

Coverage of the Australian Open is always difficult due to the time difference, but ESPN has done a very good job of ensuring fans can view the matches live, as well as get an opportunity to watch them again on repeat. It’s been a particularly exciting tournament with top seeds such as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal falling early (Federer in the third round, Nadal in the quarterfinals) and also saw Australian-born Nick Kyrgios make an exciting run to the quarters before being eliminated by Andy Murray.

With the final sessions wrapping up this week, chances are the excitement level will continue and fans may be witness to a very entertaining ending to this year’s first Grand Slam major.
