Brett Favre Retires, Peter King and John Madden Cry

I’m sure you know by now that Brett Favre has announced his retirement from the Green Bay Packers. I do think he’s one of the great quarterbacks of our generation, but he was overrated by Peter King, John Madden and a whole bunch of NFL analysts and writers. He won one Super Bowl and there were times when he threw that inexplicable interception like in the NFC Championship in January against the eventual Super Bowl champions, the New York Giants.

Newsday’s Neil Best says ESPN is making a big deal out of this with a 2 hour SportsCenter special at 1 p.m. ET today. Here’s Peter King’s article in Sports Illustrated when Favre was named as Sportsman of the Year back in December.

And going away from the manlove to Brett Favre, I must give kudos to Busted Coverage which has found the only recent pictures of internet sensation and pole vaulter hottie Allison Stokke from a track meet this past weekend. You remember last year Allison became a huge sensation when her pictures started surfacing from her high school meets. Now that she’s in college, I’m sure we’ll see more of her down the line.

More later.
