Some Mid-Week Links

I’ve been dealing with a lot of silly work-related stuff today so I’m getting a late start on the links. And I still have to get to my review of Real Sports from Monday. But let’s do some linkage while we can.

Joe Favorito talks about the Philadelphia Phillies working to be more media and female friendly.

Michael Hiestand of USA Today recaps CBS Sports’ NCAA Tournament seminar in New York that took place yesterday.

Ray Frager of the Baltimore Sun has the announcing lineup for the Tournament and we notice that Screamin’ Gus Johnson will be working through the regional finals this year, correcting last year’s wrong when he just worked the first and second rounds.

Justin Terranova of the New York Post has CBS’ Billy Packer being grumpy about the quote-unquote “decline of American basketball.”

Newsday’s Neil Best says the New York Rangers and the Federer-Sampras exhibition tennis match at Madison Square Garden did well in the ratings this week in the Big City. And Neil has some betting odds on Bob Knight swearing on ESPN.

Pete Dougherty of the Albany Times Union says the North Carolina-Duke game was a big ratings hit on ESPN.

The Sports Media Watch has the ratings from the last weekend. And the blog says the Lakers-Rockets game has been added to this Sunday’s NBA on ABC lineup.

Richard Sandomir of the New York Times says the last event at Yankee Stadium should be a Yankees game, not an outdoor NHL game on New Year’s Day 2009. And Sandomir talks about a new sports museum that will open in lower Manhattan later this year.

Tom Hoffarth of the Los Angeles Daily News says Los Angeles magazine goes overboard in trying to wax poetic about Dodgers announcer Vin Scully.

I’m having computer issues so I’ll end the links for now and come back later with an update.
