More Friday Stuff

On this Friday which for some reason seems to be dominated by Paris Hilton news, let’s provide some more links for you.

Out to LA, not for the latest on Paris Hilton, but from Tom Hoffarth of the LA Daily News who has a review of the Ruffian movie that will air on ABC tomorrow night. Hoffarth has a sidebar story on the lawsuit against the movie filed by Ruffian’s former trainer and jockey. And Hoffarth has a quick blurb on the NHL ratings both nationally and locally in LA.

The Big Ten Network picked up a big feather in its cap. Buckeye Cable with more than 150,000 subscribers in northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan has picked up the channel full-time. Ron Musselman of the Toledo Blade, right in the middle of Buckeye Cable country, has the story.

The San Diego Union-Tribune’s Jay Posner wonders if LeBron James can make an impact on the NBA Finals ratings.

Overall, the ratings for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals showed less than 3 million people watched the telecast on NBC Sports.

In Canada, even the ratings for Game 5 were down as fans gave up on Ottawa to win the Cup, but William Houston of the Toronto Globe and Mail wonders if the legendary Bob Cole and Harry Neale worked their last game together.

CBC has assigned former Blue Jays Jesse Barfield and Rance Mulliniks as analysts to join Jim Hughson on its baseball telecasts this season.

Chris Zelkovich of the Toronto Star profiles a CFL radio analyst who’s been doing the Argonauts games for 30 years.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune attacks ESPN for not giving sufficient coverage to college baseball before the Super Regionals this weekend.

Bob Wolfey of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has more on the sad ratings for the NHL.

Judd Zelgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune says the NBA playoffs isn’t playing well in the Twin Cities.

Brian Vanochten of the Grand Rapids Press enjoyed watching Don Cherry on NBC.

And as I’m making these links, Paris Hilton has been ordered back to jail. Good. Unfortunately, we’re going to be hearing and seeing “PARIS IN JAIL” updates.

Primetime viewing choices for tonight coming up.
