Thanksgiving Eve Links

Newsday’s Neil Best says Detroit deserves its early Thanksgiving Day game.

The Sports Media Watch says despite a huge blowout, Saturday Night College Football did well for ABC. And the SMW reports that Fox drew the 3rd best NFL ratings of the season.

Tom Hoffarth of the Los Angeles Daily News previews his Friday column.

Kartik Krishnaiyer of the Major League Soccer Talk blog says MLS ratings continue to underperform on ESPN/ABC.

Cecelia Kang of the Washington Post says the ESPN/BCS deal is beginning to raise questions among government regulators.

Jon Healey of the Los Angeles Times says when businesses lose out on a contract, they complain to the government as is the case with the ESPN/BCS bid.

The Media Bistro blog reports that NBC Sports has laid off 44 workers who staffed the Notre Dame halftime show.

Al Hamnick of the Munster (IN) Times says Ball State is finding a home on the ESPN family of networks.

Doug Harris of the Dayton Daily News talks about the Atlantic 10 moving its final to Selection Sunday for CBS in 2010.

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune writes that a local sports talk show host has re-signed with his station.

From the Raleigh News & Observer, Roger van der Horst writes that the Charlotte Bobcats’ ratings down are down 65% from last season.

Because this computer is so slow, I’m going to have to end the links here for now. I’ll be back from home with an update.
