The nominees are out. A few interesting developments for this year’s Emmys.
In the play-by-play category, Al Michaels is noticeably absent. Marv Albert, Mike Breen, Joe Buck, Bob Costas (?) and Mike Emrick are nominees. I guess the Academy decided to put Bob in this category in addition to his customary Studio Host nomination.
For Studio Host, James Brown, Costas, David Feherty, Greg Gumbel and Dan Patrick are the noms.
There are six men in the studio analyst category, Cris Collinsworth, Al Leiter of MLB Network, first-timer Rick Neuheisel of Pac-12 Networks, Harold Raynolds, Michael Strahan and Tom Verducci.
Game analyst has only four nominees and consist of Collinsworth, Gary Danielson, Kirk Herbstreit and Tim McCarver in his final year.
Sports reporter nominees are Pierre McGuire (?), Ken Rosenthal, Lisa Salters, Michele Tafoya and Verducci.
Olbermann is a first-time nominee in the Daily Studio Show category joining Inside the NBA Playoff Edition, MLB Tonight, Pardon the Interruption and SportsCenter. This category is all over the place with highlights shows, talk and postgame.
Weekly Studio Show includes College GameDay (football), Fox NFL Sunday, Inside the NBA, Monday Night Countdown and NFL GameDay Morning.
