Fox NFL Sunday Quotage For Week 5

Let’s get to your quotage from today’s edition of Fox NFL Sunday. We include video from Jay Glazer’s segment in which he reported that the Minnesota Vikings are very nervous about the Brett Favre/Jenn Sterger story and how it could affect their quarterback. That was some interesting reporting from Glazer.

Bradshaw: The Vikings Are Built To Win Now
Glazer: The Vikings Are Concerned About Favre’s Situation
Johnson: I’d Take Matt Schaub Over Eli Manning
Strahan To NFL GM’s: Stop Being Scared And Make The Trade!
FOX NFL SUNDAY analysts Jimmy Johnson, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Terry Bradshaw reacted to the blockbuster trade this past week of wide receiver Randy Moss from the New England Patriots to the Minnesota Vikings for a third round pick in the 2011 draft.
Johnson:  “The consensus around the country is that this is a homerun for the Minnesota Vikings because they really haven’t had a deep threat. Opposing teams have been crowding the line of scrimmage to stop Adrian Peterson with single coverage on the outside to take away the underneath routes. Now with Moss as the deep threat, opposing defenses won’t be able to do that.”
Long:  “They’ve surrounded Tom Brady with young explosive talent. It’s not Randy Moss. They’re going to be different. It wasn’t getting any better with Moss so moving him now was the right thing to do. They did him a solid by shipping him to Minnesota.”
Strahan:  “Outside of Tom Brady, New England hasn’t paid anybody. You’ve let every marquee player go at the end of their contract and Randy Moss is no exception.”
Bradshaw: “The Vikings are going to blow this team up. They have 18 free agents next year. This team is built to win now and that is why Moss is there.”

FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer reported on the allegations made by a former Jets female employee against Brett Favre.

Bradshaw compares the 3-0 Chiefs, who beat their division rival Chargers in week 1:  “The Chiefs will make the playoffs but I still think San Diego is the better team.”
—————————————————————————————
Strahan on whether the Chargers should regret trading running back LaDainian Tomlinson:  “No. At some point if a player is on a team for too long it gets stagnant.  He needed to move and the Chargers needed to move on without him.”
—————————————————————————————
Johnson on 49ers quarterback Alex Smith:  “A couple weeks ago he grew up before our very eyes but he’s regressing like Benjamin Button back to the way he was.”
—————————————————————————————
Which quarterback would former head coach Johnson take; Eli Manning or Matt Schaub?  “If Eli Manning played in Houston we wouldn’t be having this conversation.  I’d take Matt Schaub.”
—————————————————————————————
Co-host Bradshaw sat down with St. Louis Rams standout rookie quarterback Sam Bradford.  Bradford, a hardcore Steelers fan growing up had a Pittsburgh quarterback favorite not named Terry Bradshaw.
Bradshaw: “You grew up a huge Steelers fan so you were a huge fan of mine which is just great. No, no you weren’t.”
Bradford:  “You were playing before I was alive so I don’t think it’s really fair to say that.”
Bradshaw:  “I retired before you were alive!”
Bradford“Kordell Stewart, ‘Slash,’ he was my guy.”
—————————————————————————————
NFL Insider Jay Glazer on the Bills only getting a fourth and sixth round pick for Marshawn Lynch:
“There were teams who told me, ‘Buffalo never called around the league and we would’ve sent more than a fourth and sixth round pick.’ I’ll figure out women before I figure out the Buffalo Bills.”
————————————————————————————–
Analyst Michael Strahan’s message to NFL GM’s: “Don’t be afraid to make a trade to improve your team!” “Everyone was shocked and surprised that Randy Moss was traded this week. We’re not used to seeing trades of this magnitude in the NFL because a lot of GM’s are just plain scared, it’s that simple. They’re scared of being the guy who makes a bad trade so they freeze and they don’t do what’s necessary to improve their team. For instance, the San Francisco 49ers had a chance to get Donovan McNabb for a second round pick. Without McNabb the 49ers are 0-4.  With McNabb, I think they’d be the clear cut favorite in the NFC West.  Make the trade!  Green Bay lost Ryan Grant and they need a running back like I need another tooth and yet they don’t trade for Marshawn Lynch? Green Bay has a chance to win a Super Bowl, I picked them to win the Super Bowl but at this point I don’t think the Packers would trade their punter for Chris Johnson. Make the trade! Of course every trade is not a good idea.  Mike Ditka traded away eight draft picks for Ricky Williams. In that case don’t make the trade. Look at the trade our own Jimmy Johnson made with Herschel Walker. It’s been voted as the greatest deal in NFL history. To all you nervous GM’s out there with the trade deadline only about a week away, if you can help your team don’t be scared and make the trade!”

And that will do it for the Fox quotage.
