Fox NFL Sunday Quotage For Week 2

Right when I thought I would have to wait for Fox NFL Sunday quotage, it lands in the Fang’s Bites inbox. Very nice.

The video segment from Fox NFL Sunday comes from Pam Oliver’s interview with Lance Briggs. This will round out the Sunday NFL pregame quotage until NBC later tonight.

Johnson: The Honeymoon is Over for Mark Sanchez
Bradshaw: Vick is Better Suited to Win in Philadelphia Than Kolb
Glazer Reports on Confusion on Eagles’ Sidelines Dealing with Multiple Injuries
Oliver Confronts Briggs on Comments Made Regarding Women Reporters in the Locker Room

Analyst Jimmy Johnson on Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets: “The Jets have appointed themselves Super Bowl contenders all off-season.  The honeymoon is now over for Mark Sanchez.  Throwing for 74 yards isn’t going to cut it and I promise you if he has that type of performance today against New England his teammates will start saying, ‘we may not have the right quarterback.’”

Co-Host Terry Bradshaw on who should be the starting quarterback for the Eagles: “With Kolb, you’re looking at a guy who really doesn’t have a resume. He’s only started three games. I would find it very difficult for Kolb to win with the Eagles offensive line being in shambles. Vick is better suited right now to win football games than Kevin.”
————————————————————————————–
Analyst Michael Strahan on Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens going to the locker room before the half ended last week: “They must have went in thinking the half was going to expire but then Marvin Lewis had to cover it up and say he allowed it. Everyone is looking to that duo for some controversy and that would have been strike one.”

NFL Insider Jay Glazer reports on confusion with the Eagles training staff with Stuart Bradley and Kevin Kolb injuries:
On Bradley: “The Eagles trainers were over on the sidelines with two players who suffered major season-ending injuries and they were trying to deal with those players and never saw Stuart Bradley stumble.  When Bradley finally came over to the sideline, they gave him his concussion test and he seemed fine.  They gave him a five-step process where they tell him three words and Bradley was able to repeat the three words throughout the process.  Ten minutes after coming out of the game, the trainer asked Bradley again to repeat the three words and Bradley responded, ‘three words, what you are talking about?’  After hearing that, the Eagles pulled Bradley out.”
On Kolb: “Kevin Kolb came over to the Eagles trainers and said it was a jaw injury.  The trainers gave him the same concussion test with the same three words and he passed them all.  However, when Kolb went back out there he couldn’t remember the snap count and they took him out.  Kevin was completely cleared yesterday by an independent neurologist to play today but Andy Reid and their head trainer Rick Burkholder want to be more conservative and put him down for the game.”

In this week’s feature on the Bears linebackers Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs, reporter Pam Oliver asked Briggs about his recent comments regarding women reporters in the team locker rooms:

NFL Insider Jay Glazer: Saints Bring in Ronnie Lott to speak to team: “I have learned that Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints have scheduled ex-49er great Ronnie Lott to speak to the team today after practice.  Ronnie spoke to the team before the NFC Championship game last year and has a very close relationship with Drew Brees and Sean Payton.”
————————————————————————————–
Co-host Terry Bradshaw on the blame being placed on coaching and play calling rather than execution by players: “Quarterbacks are like your kids, the more you do for them, the less they’ll do for themselves and the less prepared they are to handle crucial situations. Quarterbacks now have a speaker in the helmet. They don’t call plays or even look at down and distance. They are unprepared to manage difficult situations.”
————————————————————————————–
Analyst Jimmy Johnson on Lovie Smith’s decision not to go for the field goal last week against the Lions: “Coordinators can be hard-headed. Last week, the Bears had four chances to score from the 1-yard line. Mike Martz is stubborn and Lovie Smith needed to reel him in.”

That concludes the Sunday afternoon NFL pregame quotage.
