Awful Announcing Is Back

After being gone for quite some time, the sports media blog, Awful Announcing, has relaunched. Brian Powell who created the site in 2006, had stopped blogging in April and took his account off Twitter around that time.

Many of us in the blogging community wondered what had happened to him. In fact I tried contacting him last month, but I did not receive a reply.

I learned today that Bloguin has relaunched the site. Brian is not part of it, but there are new posts as of yesterday and there is a new staff that is part of the new Awful Announcing site. It’s hoped that Powell will write a post here and there.

I’m glad the site is back. I hope it can regain the snark and edge it had under Powell. Awful Announcing was one of the first sports media blogs and it was the one of the inspirations for Fang’s Bites and other sites so you can imagine how many of us felt when we saw AA lay dormant for so long.

I wish nothing but the best to the new site and my best to Brian Powell, wherever he may be.
