Reality Series Football Superstar PREMIERES Monday, August 16 ON Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Soccer Plus
Los Angeles, CA (August 10, 2010) – Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Soccer Plus together will televise the first three seasons of Australian reality series Football Superstar,  with new episodes premiering every Monday at 8 p.m. ET beginning Aug. 16 on Fox Soccer Channel, immediately after Soccer Talk Live.
In each eight-episode season, Football Superstar takes viewers on the search for the next great soccer phenom. Athletes from around Australia take part in day-long tryouts, after which computer data generates a shortlist of the top 50 contestants who move on to an intensive weekend at Sydney’s training ground. The judges – led by Sydney FC coach John Kosmina – assess the athletic abilities of the contestants and choose the 15 finalists who will spend a month at Sydney’s training ground at Macquarie University.
A player is eliminated each week from the program by the judges based upon on-field performance and off-field behavior. Over the course of the eight hour-long episodes, viewers watch the drama and emotion behind the 15 finalists as they compete for the chance of a lifetime.
The winner of Football Superstar Season One wins a one-year contract with Australia’s A-League heavyweights Sydney FC as well as a one-year scholarship to Macquarie University.
Football Superstar will repeat Monday nights at 10 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer Plus and again at midnight ET on Fox Soccer Channel.
The series compliments Fox Soccer Channel’s match coverage of the Hyundai A-League, typically airing Saturdays live at 1 a.m. ET.
