A few more links for you on this Tuesday afternoon.
First, Neil Best in his Newsday blog says that Mike & the Mad Dog of WFAN have picked up another station, this one in Tampa. WQYK-AM will carry the show from 3 – 6 p.m. every day. The show on the FAN runs from 1 – 6:30. Currently, WROW in Albany picks up the show as well as being simulcast daily on the YES Network. This week, Mad Dog Chris Russo is on vacation so Mike Francesca is doing the show solo. Kind of a strange time for the show to be picked up.
Tonight, Andrea Kremer’s interview of Gary Sheffield will be run on HBO’s Real Sports. There has been plenty of reaction since Neil Best put a quickie review on his blog this past weekend. Wally Matthews of Newsday chimes in saying Sheff has no real credibility on the issue. George M. Thomas in the Akron Beacon Journal says Sheffield doesn’t quite get it when it comes to being an athlete. Thomas also talks about LeBron James’ co-hosting the ESPY’s. Bob Wolfey of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel also writes about the interview (scroll down).
Continuing on HBO, it appears the subscription service is going to be putting a lot of its programming online so people can watch on their home computers. This includes their sports documentaries. Good move. I’ve been wondering when HBO will join the revolution. A beta test will start later this year, most likely on Time Warner Cable, then rolled out to other systems next year.
The Tennis Channel has made an announcement about acquiring Wimbledon.
CNBC’s Darren Rovell comes in with a blog entry about the World Series of Poker which can be seen live on Pay Per View starting today.
Over to Iowa where it appears the impasse between the Big Ten Network and Mediacom Cable is not being resolved soon. Ryan Suchomel of the Iowa City Press-Citizen has the story. Eric Lacy of the Detroit News has another “the SEC is watching the Big Ten Network” story.
Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune profiles local actor Erik Jensen who plays New York Yankees catcher Thurman Munson in “The Bronx is Burning”.
