From FOX NFL KICKOFF on FOX Sports 1

FOX Sports analyst and former New York Giants OL David Diehl on preparing for Houston’s defensive standouts JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney: “The first thing you need to do when you wake up is say your prayers because these are two guys that are excited, they are amped up and ready to go. They are going to be screaming off the edges.”

FOX Sports 1 analyst and former Pro Bowl QB Donovan McNabb on Johnny Manziel in two-QB system early in the season: “I’m not a big fan of it, although in my rookie year, it happened with me with Doug Pederson as the starting QB. I was able to take a couple of series and come out of the game which adjusts to the speed of the game. But for the Cleveland Browns, who have no identity, we don’t know who’s going to be the No. 1 wide receiver, who’s going to run the football – Ben Tate is the guy they brought in there, but can he carry the ball 25-30 times?. I don’t know if that is going to happen, so for Brian Hoyer, stop looking over your shoulder, focus in on being the starting QB and just try to be efficient and move the chains.”

FOX Sports 1 analyst and former Pro Bowl WR Randy Moss on the potential improvement of Cowboys WR Dez Bryant: “If Tony Romo would look at him a little bit more, instead of Jason Witten — you know Jason Witten is a possession receiver. Dez Bryant is the home run hitter. So, I think if you look more for Dez in certain situations, I think the sky is the limit for him and that whole offense.”

From FOX NFL SUNDAY on FOX

Two-time Super Bowl winning coach and NFL on FOX analyst Jimmy Johnson on Seattle’s chance of repeating as Super Bowl champs: “You look at free agency and you look at complacency. The last nine Super Bowl winners, the next year, four of them didn’t even make the playoffs and the rest of them only one playoff game. Remember this; the biggest enemy of great is good. Complacency. Let me tell you this, Pete Carroll had to re-tool his football teams at USC, he understands it. He along with John Schneider, they’ve embraced this thing. They say, Hey, we don’t want to be just good, we want to be great. And if it is any indication of what they did Thursday night, the only thing that’s going to stop this team is if they have some key injuries.”

Hall-of-Fame QB and NFL on FOX analyst Terry Bradshaw on Johnny Manziel’s passion for copywriting nicknames: “Can’t wait to meet Johnny Manziel, Johnny Football. He has copyrighted nine different names. I guess when you become a star, copyright that, go off and make your money … that’s your brand. When I brand my cattle and my horses, that means they have earned their rightful place on my ranch forever. Johnny, let’s get off the bench and start playing, and then we can start worrying about those copyrighted names.”

NFL on FOX Insider Jay Glazer, after being first to report Panthers’ plans to sit QB Cam Newton, said he believes 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh will not be back with the team next year: “I think (the relationship between 49ers and Harbaugh) ends in a very ugly divorce. I’d be surprised if Jim Harbaugh is actually back in San Francisco next year … I just think his time has come and gone there. Look, it’s even got bad there with the players. Some of the veteran players there, they used to bite their tongue. Now, they are not. When you hear the players talk about Jim Harbaugh, they air their gripes out. Completely different dynamic now than it was when he got there.”

NFL on FOX analyst and former strong safety John Lynch on questions about Atlanta Falcons’ toughness: “Arthur Blank, their owner, has challenged their manhood. Mike Smith, their head coach, Mike Tice, Brian Cox … they’ve challenged their physicality, their toughness. They are going to be a tougher football team. I want to see if they can be poised.”

NFL on FOX analyst Howie Long on the number of suspensions (31) affecting teams to open the season: “What is not up for debate is clearly what is defined as to what you will be suspended for. The fact that you put yourself in position to miss a football game for any other reason than injury is mind-boggling to me. It meant too much to me as a player … I don’t get it. It’s just knuckleheads.”

NFL on FOX analyst and defensive great Howie Long comparing his pay with that of Houston’s J.J. Watt, who just signed a 6-year, $100 million contract with the Texans:
Long: “Do you want to hear something funny? What do you think I made my rookie year?”
Watt: “What year was it?”
Long: “‘81”
Watt: “$190,000”
Long: “OK, I made $38 grand (Watt chuckles). At that rate, for me to get to $100 million, I’d have to play 2,631 years.”
Watt: “That’s a lot of double-teams to go up against.”

That is all. The CBS quotage is next.
