Let’s wrap up the early Sunday NFL quotage from Fox NFL Sunday.
FOX NFL SUNDAY NOTES – 10/13/13
Strahan on Romo: He’s the Baseball Player That Hits Well in the Regular Season but Can’t Hit in Playoffs
Glazer/Johnson: Freeman Was Brought to Vikings to be Starting Quarterback
Bradshaw to Schaub: You are the Perfect Quarterback for Houston—————————————————————————–
NFL on FOX’s Laura Okmin, reporting from today’s Panthers at Vikings game, received this text from Adrian Peterson on why he is choosing to play today following the horrific and tragic loss of his 2-year old son earlier this week: “My brother passed the night before the combine and I decided to go through with it. The same reason why I will play this week. You may ask why? God wants good to come from it…we mourn and grieve but heaven had the baddest welcoming party for my son. That knowledge gives me peace. I’m still hurt and feel the pain of life, but I’m able to function because of the peace and joy of knowing my loved ones are in a much better place.”

Analyst Michael Strahan on Tony Romo not producing in the clutch: “Romo is the basketball player that can’t hit the clutch shot. He’s the baseball player that hits well in the regular season but can’t hit anything in the playoffs. I don’t know what it is but at least he has a long career ahead of him in order to change this.”
—————————————————————————-
Analyst Howie Long believes Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo needs a few big victories under his belt to be remembered by, not costly interceptions: “If we’re looking at talent and talent alone, Tony Romo is an elite level quarterback. He’s a uniquely talented quarterback. Then comes the blip. Prior to the interception last week, you can make the case that he had really outplayed Peyton Manning…Romo has an opportunity on a team that can probably win this division, get to the playoffs and erase a lot of the bad memories with one or two big games. Avoiding that blip, that moment.”
—————————————————————————-
Analyst Jimmy Johnson wants to make it clear: new Vikings quarterback Josh Freeman was brought in to be the starter: “Let’s be very clear. Josh Freeman was brought in to be the starting quarterback. He’s been brought in to be the starter because Minnesota doesn’t believe Matt Cassell or Christian Ponder can be the starter…it’s my opinion that we’ll see Josh Freeman starting next week against the Giants.”
—————————————————————————-
FOX NFL Sunday insider Jay Glazer updated folks on the Vikings acquisition of Josh Freeman: “Originally [Vikings head coach] Leslie Frazier, when he brought Josh Freeman in last week, right before the signing he told Josh, ‘look, Christian Ponder cannot lose the job due to injury.’ That has changed. They brought him in here to be the starter. He [Freeman] is deactivated today. The plan is not for him to go next week but perhaps the week after that. I love what Jimmy said there though, they would love nothing more than for Josh Freeman to come in sooner rather than later.”
—————————————————————————-
Co-host Terry Bradshaw offers support and encouragement to Houston quarterback Matt Schaub: “All you need is one good game Schaub. I loved you at Virginia. I thought when you left Atlanta for Houston you were the perfect fit and young man you are the perfect quarterback for Houston and today you’re going to play well.”
—————————————————————————-
Analyst Michael Strahan says Patriots quarterback Tom Brady hasn’t found his safety valve yet this season: “We’re used to seeing the Patriots at the top of the division and they are still at the top having only lost one game but they’ve struggled. We are seeing frustration from Tom Brady that we’ve never seen. As you’ve said Jimmy, this is a young Patriots team. They only have 2 guys with over 10 years experience. One of them is Tom Brady. The other is Tommy Kelly. But who is going to be the guy to step up for Tom Brady. [Saints Defensive Coordinator] Rob Ryan brings a lot of pressure and Brady needs a safety valve, someone he can trust and he has not found that guy yet this season.”
