NFL Moves Chargers-Raiders on Sunday to Late Night; Game Moves from CBS to NFL Network

This announced tonight from the National Football League. To accommodate the Oakland A’s in their MLB Postseason quest, the NFL has moved Sunday afternoon’s San Diego at Oakland game from its originally scheduled 1:25 p.m. Pacific start time to later in the evening, at 8:35 p.m. PT. Major League Baseball announced that the A’s will host American League Division Series games on Friday and Saturday.

To allow the Oakland Coliseum field to be converted from baseball to football, the NFL will allow some extra time and move the game to the extremely rare 8:35 p.m. PT start on Sunday.

In addition, the game which was to be aired on CBS with Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts will move to NFL Network. Eagle and Fouts will call the game as scheduled. The game will also be seen in the local markets on over-the-air stations. Westwood One Sports will also pick up the game on radio.

Here’s the official announcement from the NFL.

GAME TO AIR ON NFL NETWORK

The Week 5 San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders game on Sunday, October 6 will be played at 8:35 PM PT (11:35 PM ET), the NFL announced today. The game will air on NFL Network and on Westwood One, as well as on over-the-air stations (TBA) locally in San Diego and Oakland.

The Chargers-Raiders game was originally slated for 1:25 PM PT (4:25 PM ET) on CBS. The move was made in response to today’s announcement by Major League Baseball of its ALDS schedule which has the Oakland A’s hosting a game on Saturday, October 5 at 6:07 PM (PT). The Raiders share the Oakland Coliseum with the A’s and the Coliseum requires time to convert back into a football stadium in order to host the game.
