PHIL SIMMS
(On Pittsburgh-Dallas): This game is intriguing. It is two interesting teams that are both 7-6 for a reason. I look at the Dallas Cowboy and I think about how Tony Romo takes a lot of criticism. When they lose, it’s always his fault. But he’s not getting enough credit this year for the games he’s pulled out for that football team. He has made plays under really adverse situations. The rally he had against the Cincinnati Bengals was truly one of the best I’ve ever seen him have. Under tough circumstances, he somehow got it done.
The Steelers’ defense has been playing great. They have playmakers now. There are a few injuries with the defensive backs, so we’ll see how that affects them. On the offense, Ben Roethlisberger’s second week back after a three-week layoff should really help him. I disagree with everybody when they were talking about him last week after the San Diego game by saying maybe he wasn’t ready to come back. San Diego had a really good defense. So overall, I thought Ben Roethlisberger played very well.
And we have the preview of what will be seen on The NFL Today at noon ET.
“THE NFL TODAY’s” SHANNON SHARPE VISITS BALTIMORE TO PREVIEW DENVER-RAVENS GAME FOR WEEK 15 ON SUNDAY, DEC. 16
THE NFL ON CBS, home of Super Bowl XLVII and broadcasting its 53rd year of the NFL, continues its 2012 NFL season on Sunday, Dec. 16 (1:00-7:00 PM, ET) beginning with THE NFL TODAY (12:00 Noon-1:00 PM, ET).
THE NFL TODAY’s Shannon Sharpe previews the Denver Broncos-Baltimore Ravens game as the former Ravens tight end sits down with quarterback Joe Flacco and running back Ray Rice, as they get ready for their huge home game against red-hot Peyton Manning and the Broncos, winners of eight straight.
Is everything “right” in the Baltimore Ravens’ world? On one hand, the team is 9-4, leading the AFC North, and on its way to a fifth straight playoff appearance. On the other hand, the team has lost two straight, and has sputtered offensively in recent times. Two weeks ago, in the loss to division rival Pittsburgh, Rice had no touches in the fourth quarter. The team also has been beset by serious injuries to its defense, including the loss of Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs. And, in a move Flacco said “stunned” him, this week the team fired its Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron and replaced him with Jim Caldwell. Is Baltimore moving forward or backwards as the playoffs approach? Deb Gelman is the producer.
James Brown hosts THE NFL TODAY along with analysts Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason, Shannon Sharpe and Cowher, NFL TODAY Insider Jason La Canfora,as well as Lesley Visser reporting.
Eric Mann is senior producer and Bob Matina is director of THE NFL TODAY.
That will do it. Fox is next.
