Our First Flex of the 2012 NFL Season! Colts-Pats For CBS; Sunday Night Remains The Same

I forgot that the flex weeks were coming. This from the National Football League. We now have the revised schedule for Week 11. No change for NBC. The Sunday Night Football game between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers will remain. NBC will be happy about having the AFC North blood rivalry game.

We do have one change, the Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots game, originally scheduled for the early window at 1 p.m. ET on CBS, is now the featured 4:25 p.m. ET game, still on CBS. Expect to see Jim Nantz and Phil Simms to be assigned to that contest.

Originally, CBS had just San Diego at Denver in the late window. And with Fox airing New Orleans at Oakland late, we’ll have a total of three games in the 4-7:30 p.m. time slots.

Here’s the press release from the National Football League.

The NFL will utilize “flexible scheduling” on Sundays in Weeks 11-17.  Flexible scheduling will ensure quality matchups in all NFL Sunday time slots in those weeks and give teams a chance to play their way onto primetime and into the late-afternoon 4:25 PM ET time slot on CBS and FOX.

For each of the flexible scheduling weeks with the exception of Week 17, the NFL will announce the start times of games on Sundays no later than 12 days prior to that weekend.  To ensure a Sunday night game and doubleheader games with playoff implications in Week 17, the flexible scheduling decision for that Sunday may be made on six days notice.

That will do it. Look for the flex press releases for the rest of the NFL season.

UPDATE, 1:25 p.m.: CBS actually scooped the NFL announcement in October by putting Indy-New England at 4:25 p.m. Notice how it has Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots assigned to the game.
