“In his three decades with the NFL, Commissioner Goodell has played a key role in the extraordinary growth of the league and been witness to so much of its rich history,” said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s President and Chief Content Officer. “As commissioner, he has been influential and impactful to a league that means so much to so many fans around the world. On this SiriusXM Town Hall broadcast, listeners will have the chance to talk directly with the commissioner about his career, the history of the league and the issues he has faced during his time as the league’s chief executive.”
Roger Goodell became the eighth chief executive in the NFL’s 92-year history when he took office on September 1, 2006. Fan interest in the NFL has soared under his leadership, including the largest television audiences in league history, enormous growth in online and social media engagement, and other measures of business success. In his first six seasons as commissioner, Goodell has addressed a wide range of issues to improve the NFL, including player health and safety; the medical needs and pensions of retired players; personal conduct; revenue sharing; stadium construction; media innovation; and international development.
Commissioner Goodell joined the NFL in 1982 as an administrative intern in the league office in New York. He served the league in a variety of roles in the ensuing 24 years and was instrumental in many of the NFL’s accomplishments prior to becoming commissioner, including expansion, realignment, stadium development, the launch of NFL Network and the negotiation of the league’s television agreements.
I’ll write about my experiences there later tonight.
And if anything breaks, I’ll do my best to post it as long as I have wifi access.
