Oakland A's West Division Clincher Sets Ratings Record For Comcast SportsNet California

Wednesday’s season finale for the Oakland A’s, an astounding 12-5 victory over the Texas Rangers completing an amazing comeback from 13 games out to win the American League West Division provided Comcast SportsNet California with a ratings record. The previous high was in 2008 for an A’s game against the Anaheim Angels.

Despite being on at 12:30 p.m. in the Bay Area, CSNC was the top-rated network in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose market for the entire time the game was televised. Comcast SportsNet California generated a 4.72 rating with an average of 118,000 households viewing.

The peak viewing period was in the final quarter hour of the game with a rating of 6.91 and almost 173,000 households.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 4, 2012) – Comcast SportsNet California registered its highest-rated Oakland Athletics telecast – a 4.72 average household rating for its coverage of the A’s AL West Division clinching victory over the Texas Rangers. The telecast averaged approximately 118,053 households (San Francisco DMA – San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose) for the entire game and posted a 6.91 peak rating during the 3:45 p.m. quarter hour (172,913 households).

In addition, Comcast SportsNet California was the #1 rated network in television households for the entire length of the game and the telecast was the top-rated program in the key advertising demos of Adults 18-49 (2.40), Adults 25-54 (2.32), Men 18-49 (3.42) and Men 25-54 (3.44).

The previous rating high was on 7/13/08 when the network posted a 3.95 household rating for the A’s-Angels game. Note:  All network ratings information is since 2007. Prior data is unavailable.
