Big Ten Network About To Seen In Iowa, But Not In Columbus

In news that broke late yesterday, the Big Ten Network appears to be on its way to be seen in the Hawkeye State. This would be big news for Iowans who have not been able to watch the channel since it launched last year.

Scott Dochterman of the Cedar Rapids Gazette says BTN and Mediacom have reached an agreement in principle.

Mike Reynolds of Multichannel News writes that the Big Ten Network could be seen on Mediacom systems throughout Iowa as early as next week.

Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register writes that an announcement is expected early next week.

John Bohkenkamp of the Burlington Hawk Eye says if true, the deal would end a year-long stalemate between the Big Ten Network and Mediacom.

On the other hand, things aren’t getting better in Ohio where many Ohio State fans want to see the Buckeyes. George M. Thomas of the Akron Beacon Journal writes that the talks between Big Ten Network and Time Warner Cable are getting contentious.

Jeff Richgels of the Capital (WI) Times says the talks between the two sides have gotten ugly.

Don Walker from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writes that Time Warner is offering to put the Big Ten Network games on pay per view.

Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer says BTN is calling the Time Warner offer a publicity stunt. And Lesmerises looks at the exchange of letters and statements between the two parties.

Well, there’s happiness and anger at the Big Ten Network offices in Chicago today.
