The Fox Sports Media Group was a multiple Sports Emmy Award-winner on Monday, bringing a total of five statues home to its headquarters in Southern California.
MLB on Fox took four Sports Emmy Awards including Outstanding Live Sports Special for the 2011 World Series. The man who called the Fall Classic for Fox, Joe Buck received the Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality – Play-by-Play. Rounding out the Fox Sports haul from the Sports Emmy Awards was a trophy for Speed’s work on the 27th NASCAR All-Star Race in the Live Event Turnaround category.
So Fox wins five Sports Emmy Awards and is happy with its loot from last night.

SPEED Honored for All-Star Race CoverageNew York, NY – It was a big night for Joe Buck and the FOX Sports Media Group at the 33rd Annual Sports Emmys presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. MLB on FOX won four Emmys including Buck taking home the final award of the night, Outstanding Play-by-Play. Other big wins for MLB on FOX include Outstanding Live Sports Special for the 2011 World Series, Live Event Audio/Sound and Technical Team Remote. SPEED added a fifth Emmy to FSMG’s total, winning the Live Event Turnaround category for its coverage of NASCAR’s 27th All-Star Race.
Buck, FOX Sports’ lead MLB and NFL announcer, is no stranger to the Emmy stage. This is his seventh Sports Emmy for Outstanding Play-by-Play, including an impressive stretch of five straight wins from 2001-2005.
Another major award – Outstanding Live Sports Special – went to MLB on FOX for its coverage of the 2011 World Series. The dramatic, seven-game series featured the St. Louis Cardinals’ amazing comeback against the Texas Rangers. FOX Sports Media Group Vice Chairman Ed Goren and MLB on FOX coordinating producer Pete Macheska accepted the award. The awards for Live Event Audio/Sound and Technical Team Remote for MLB on FOX were accepted by Jerry Steinberg, SVP, Field Operations.
The four wins brings FOX Sports’ Emmy total to 89, including 26 for MLB on FOX.
David Hill, Ed Goren, Eric Shanks and John Entz are the executive producers of FOX Sports.
