Federer-Nadal Final Garners Good Ratings for NBC

NBC Sports has a reason to crow today and it’s due to the Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal Gentlemen’s Final at Wimbledon that extended into the late afternoon hours on the East Coast.

NBC received an overnight 4.6 rating and 12 share for the match that did not end until 4:45 p.m. ET. The network says it was the best overnight rating since 2000 and the highest rated match involving non-Americans since 1991.

The top metered markets for the match are as follows and this comes directly from the NBC press release:

1. St. Louis, 8.2/19
2. West Palm Beach, 7.5/17
3. Washington, D.C., 6.4/17
T4. Nashville, 6.3/14
T4. Fort Myers, 6.3/15
6. Las Vegas, 6.1/14
T7. Jacksonville, 6.0/13
T7. Richmond, 6.0/12
T9. New York, 5.7/15
T9. Milwaukee, 5.7/12

Ken Schott of the Schenectady Gazette writes that the men’s final was a big hit for NBC.

For the women’s final that pitted the Williams sisters against each other, Ray Frager of the Baltimore Sun writes that locally, the match rated well and was the fifth highest rated market for the match.

That’s it for now.
