The numbers are in from Nielsen and an estimated 27.2 million viewers saw part or all of the NFL regular season opener between New Orleans and Green Bay on NBC last night. That’s down slightly from last year’s regular season opener between Minnesota and Green Bay which garnered 27.5 million viewers. The final rating ended up being 16.0 with a 26 share.
According to NBC, New Orleans-Green Bay was the 2nd highest primetime game on any network in a dozen years dating back to a Minnesota-Dallas game on ABC in 1999.
The two highest rated markets were of course in New Orleans and Milwaukee with over 50 ratings and 70 shares. Amazing numbers.
Here’s the press release from NBC Sports.
