Last week, TBS aired the Atlanta Braves taking on the New York Mets. This week, the former Superstation will be in the Midwest to see the Minnesota Twins taking on … wait for it… the New York Yankees, so once again, TBS is hoping to tap fans of the Yankees to gain an audience. Of course, the game is blacked out in home markets, but TBS wants to use the popularity of the Yankees to translate into bigger numbers. And next week, TBS goes to the New York well once again. What is going on here?
Anyway, here’s the TBS press release regarding Sunday’s game.
The New York Yankees visit the Minnesota Twins in an American League Match-up on “Sunday MLB on TBS”
“Sunday MLB on TBS” continues on August 21 with an American League match-up when MVP-candidate Curtis Granderson and the New York Yankees visit the newest member of the 600 home run club, Jim Thome and the Minnesota Twins at 2 p.m. (ET). Ivan Nova (12-4) is scheduled to start for the Yankees against the Twins’ probable starter Nick Blackburn (7-10). Play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson will call the game alongside analysts Ron Darling and John Smoltz in the broadcast booth.
“Sunday MLB on TBS” includes match-ups on TBS every Sunday afternoon throughout the regular season. Beginning in October TBS will once again provide exclusive coverage of the four Division Series and the National League Championship Series (NLCS).
TBS has served as the exclusive home of Major League Baseball’s Division Series (DS) and one League Championship Series (LCS) since 2007, has broadcasted MLB games for more than 30 years and was home of the Atlanta Braves from 1977-2007.
