Today’s Giants/Vikings game has been postponed due to damage to the Metrodome when the roof caved in from snow accumulation early this morning.

The game has been rescheduled for tomorrow night – Monday, December 13, 2010 and will be played at Detroit’s Ford Field. FOX Sports will provide regionalized coverage of the game on KMSP in Minneapolis, KEYC in Mankato, KXLT in Rochester and WNYW in New York beginning at 7:00 PM ET.

FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer reported on a surprising reaction from the head of the NFL officials union when they were asked to participate on a conference call during the week:  “The head of the NFL officials union actually urged all of the officials to boycott the conference call that was meant to prepare them for the postseason. Their reason for not getting on the conference call was that they are only paid for weekends.  If the NFL wanted the officials during the week, they would have to pay them separately during the week. Are you kidding me? Remember, some of these guys are paid six-figures, they get a pension for the rest of their lives and they want extra pay for something that’s going to help out the postseason.”

FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer reports that if the Giants vs. Vikings game had been played today, quarterback Brett Favre would have sat out, ending his consecutive games started streak: “If the game was played today, that streak would’ve come to an end. Everyone I’ve talked to with the Vikings said Brett didn’t do anything this week, usually when he’s hurt he at least does something Friday maybe Saturday and that wasn’t the case. He did not take a single rep. This morning I asked the Vikings, what about this extra day, has it bought Brett enough time to maybe continue the streak tomorrow night? Everybody I’ve talked to with the Vikings said ‘we don’t see it happening’ but with Brett, you never know.”

With the Giants vs. Vikings game being postponed until tomorrow in Detroit, analyst Michael Strahan believes it hurts the NY Giants for next week against Philadelphia:  “It’s a catch-22 in a sense for the Giants. It’s a blessing to have a chance for Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith and other guys coming off to get a little healthier but they have to play the Eagles next week, a big game that could determine who is going to win that division. For the Giants it’s great to get these guys back but hurts in a sense that it’ll be a very short week next week against the toughest team that they’re going to play in their division.”

Co-host Terry Bradshaw on the likelihood that the extra days rest for Vikings quarterback Brett Favre allows him to start tomorrow night’s game:  “Brett Favre didn’t practice with a sprained shoulder all week.  Who is he kidding?  If he can’t play today, he can’t play tomorrow.”

FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb is on a short leash despite signing a contract with the Redskins earlier this season: “The coaching staff is preparing Rex Grossman to play in today’s game if Donovan McNabb struggles. Grossman and McNabb split reps in practice this week.  Last night in a staff meeting, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, informed his entire staff that we are preparing Rex to play in this game.”

Reporter Pam Oliver profiled Rams’ running back Steven Jackson about his career and the Rams impressive season. Jackson tells Oliver about what he worries about regarding his career with the Rams: “I’ve watched some guys I’ve admired, guys like Edgerrin James, Deuce McAllister. They’ve had great personal careers but their teams were successful after they were done. I hope that doesn’t happen to me. I don’t want to be an honorary captain. I don’t want to receive a Super Bowl ring in the mail for the hard work I put in leading up. I want to be a part of it.”

Analyst Michael Strahan agreed with Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler’s assessment that Soldier Field is one of the worst fields in the entire league. “He’s completely right about that.  It is a messy, slick field.  I don’t know if it helps the Bears because when you have a Wes Welker and a Danny Woodhead for the Patriots, guys that who are quick with short, choppy steps, that’s the their advantage.”

Analyst Jimmy Johnson on one of New England’s biggest weaknesses:  “Statistically the Patriots are one of the worst teams in the league on defense at stopping the run so that is going to be a problem today with a windy day in Chicago.”

FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer reports on how the Broncos plan to use Tim Tebow now that Josh McDaniels was fired: “Everyone thinks that with the coaching change that Eric Studesville is going to automatically play Tebow. The fact is that he just not ready to play full time quarterback yet. The Broncos do have a package set up for him during red zone and goal line situations.”

Analyst Michael Strahan on what the NFC West will come down to: “San Francisco might be looking to play spoiler in this division. They are out of the playoffs but still have games against Seattle and St. Louis. If the 49ers get hot, then I think the team they beat will be sitting at home at the end of the year.”
