TBS Switches Games on Sunday To Show Stephen Strasburg

Just received this press release from the good people at Turner Sports. And this shows that TBS is willing to switch gears when necessary. Originally scheduled to air the Red Sox-Phillies game, TBS realized that people want to see the 2nd start of Stephen Strasburg when the Washington Nationals take on the Cleveland Indians at Jacobs Field. The game is close to being sold out so TBS has announced it will air the Nats-Tribe matchup which is a good thing for the fans.

Brian Anderson of Fox Sports Wisconsin who had been calling most of TBS’ Sunday games actually gets this one off and the aging Dick Stockton gets the assignment. As you know, I normally post the TBS baseball press releases in a group with Fox and ESPN, but this one has to stand alone due to the change in schedule.

“Sunday MLB on TBS” Alters Schedule to Feature Stephen Strasburg’s Second Career Start
Nationals @ Indians on Sunday, June 13 at 1 p.m. (ET)
Sunday MLB on TBS” continues on June 13 with TBS adding the Washington Nationals at Cleveland Indians game at 1 p.m. (ET). The Nationals probable starter is scheduled to be rookie phenom pitcher Stephen Strasburg when the Nationals visit probable starter David Huff and the Cleveland Indians. TBS will also add two super slo-mo cameras for the telecast; a centerfield camera and a right field line camera.
In his MLB pitching debut, Strasburg got the win as he struck out 14 batters in 7 innings in a 5-2 Nationals victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Dick Stockton (play-by-play), Buck Martinez (analyst) and Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley (analyst) will call the action.  TBS had previously scheduled and announced the Philadelphia Phillies @ Boston Red Sox game at 1:30 p.m. (ET).
“Sunday MLB on TBS” includes match-ups on TBS every Sunday afternoon throughout the regular season.  The network will also exclusively televise the MLB All-Star Selection Show on Sunday, July 4.  Additionally, beginning in October TBS will once again provide exclusive coverage of the Division Series and the American League Championship Series (ALCS).
TBS has broadcast MLB coverage for more than 30 years serving as the exclusive home of the MLB Division Series (DS) and one League Championship Series (LCS) since 2007 and home of Atlanta Braves coverage from 1977 to 2007.
